Geneva, 9 July 2019 – Spirits producers and producer organisations from across the world joined forces today in Geneva for the formal creation of the World Spirits Alliance (WSA), an international trade association dedicated to representing the views and interests of the spirits sector at the international level. Following many years of successful cooperation, members decided to set up a dedicated, formal organisation to act as the common global voice for the distilled spirits sector.

Toronto, May 27, 2019. Spirits Canada today welcomed the release of Mr. Ken Hughes’ Report for the Ontario Beverage Alcohol Review: “The Case for Change: Increasing Choice and Expanding Opportunity in Ontario’s Alcohol Sector”.

Ontario Spirits manufacturers strongly concur with many of Mr. Hughes conclusions, including that competition leads to healthier markets, that the private sector has just as deep an interest in social responsibility as everyone else and that Ontario is ready for bold reforms.

Spirits Show Strong Growth in Canada in 2018

Toronto, January 21, 2019. Spirits sales volumes in Canada increased by 3.2% in 2018, the largest year-over-year increase since 2006, according to Spirits Canada.

New study amplifies costs linked to alcohol; ignores progress

OTTAWA (June 26, 2018) – The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) released a study estimating the cost of substance use to Canadian society. The $1.4 million study, funded by Health Canada, fails to discuss some of the positive trends that are a direct result of industry, government and NGOs working toward reducing harmful drinking and fostering a culture of moderation across Canada..
